Duquesne University students in Dr. Schulze's "Politics of Immigration" course, as Jewish Family and Community Services of Pittsburgh (JFCS) volunteers throughout the spring 2018 semester, had the opportunity to help organize a “Family Fun Day of the Arts” for refugee families in Pittsburgh on April 15. The event was a huge success!
Because of your generous donation to our successful crowdfunding campaign, it was possible to provide live music by Afro Yaqui Music Collective, food from Salem's Market and Grill, as well as a variety of creative arts activities.
In addition, the students have regularly volunteered in an after school program in Crafton Heights organized by ARYSE and JFCS, and co-sponsored by the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh. These donations have enriched that program by enabling the students to purchase learning activities and supplies.
Thank you all for making a difference in the lives of these families and in our community.
