What is SOTA?
We are current third year occupational therapy students at Duquesne University. Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession that provides services to all ages throughout the lifespan and promotes occupational balance, participation in everyday activities, and so much more!
The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) is an association at Duquesne that engages students in meaningful OT-related activities and discussions, as well as advances students’ knowledge within the profession. In addition, it provides a place of fellowship among 1st year through 4th year student cohorts.
Why are We Fundraising?
Every year, there is a national American Occupational Therapy Association
(AOTA) conference that OT students in SOTA have the chance to attend. There, occupational therapy practitioners from all across the United States gather to provide a networking community and a place to hold various research opportunities. Furthermore, the annual AOTA conference fosters an environment for current and future clinicians to learn, connect, and grow together.
Next year, our cohort is hopeful of attending the AOTA conference in Orlando, Florida in March 2024. As professional phase students, it would be a beneficial experience to grow professionally, learn new skills, and keep up with current events within the OT profession.
Your Help is so Valuable!
Your support helps us as students be able to experience this wonderful learning opportunity! It provides the opportunity for us to send as many students as we can to gain this experience.
