Duquesne in Rome

** STRETCH GOAL ANNOUNCED **

Thanks to the incredible outpouring of support for the Duecento Scholarship Fund at the Italian Campus. We reached our initial goal of $5,000! We can't thank you all enough for your generosity and support.

We are now setting a new stretch goal of $7,500. There are still two weeks left in the campaign, and each of your contributions help us to continue to support students that have a desire to study abroad, but might not have the funds to do so.  Each one of your gifts helps to build the Italian Campus Endowment, which allows us to help Duquesne students have the gift of study abroad.

Even if you can’t make a financial contribution, you can support us by sharing the link to this page with your friends and family. Every dollar and every share goes a long way to helping us be that much more effective in getting students abroad. Grazie mille!

Duquesne in Rome

Since 2001, Duquesne University has offered its students the special opportunity to spend a semester studying in Rome through Duquesne's Italian Campus Program.

An impressive group of largely Rome-based faculty, as well as an occasional visiting professor from the home campus, teach regular Duquesne University courses at the site, so students can experience the richness of this environment while making normal progress toward their degree.

Students who participate in a spring or fall semester at the Italian Campus in Rome enjoy...

  • Papal audience in St. Peter's Square with Pope Francis
  • Classes on-site in the heart of ancient Rome
  • Cultural exchanges with local Italian students
  • Making great lifelong friendships
  • And much, much more!!

Why We Are Crowdfunding

Tuition…room and board…airfare…passports…bus/metro passes…personal spending…the costs for Duquesne students to experience our Italian Campus add up.

This is why donations from alumni and friends are needed to help offset these expensive costs and make this once-in-a-lifetime study abroad opportunity available for ALL students.

How Your Gift Will Be Used

Gifts of any amount allow us to:

  • Provide our students with Italian Campus Scholarships
  • Enrich the programming in Rome
  • Boost the campus library collection
  • Keep our facilities up-to-date

The Impact on Duquesne University Students

"I knew this scholarship would drastically change my experience here and without it, it wouldn’t have been nearly the same." - Morgan Burke

"I couldn’t have come here if I didn’t have that scholarship…money was tight for me, so I knew the only way to get the full effect of studying abroad was if I had financial help. Once I decided I wanted to come I knew the only way I could go was if I received some scholarship or some sort of financial aid to help me." - Salvatore Durante

"I'm half Italian so it's always been my dream to go to Italy and this scholarship made it possible.  I actually worked three jobs last summer just to try and pay for this on my own, but it wasn’t enough…I still had a lot of anxiety until I heard  that I got the scholarship…having 'that'/'the scholarship' helped bring a weight off my shoulders." - Marissa Augustine

Please Donate Today & Consider Joining The Duecento or The Cento

All gifts to this crowdfunding campaign will be directed to the Duquesne University Italian Campus Gift Fund, which can be spent immediately to help students attend, buy necessary items for the library and the campus and enrich programming in Rome.

For those who would like to take a leadership role, we ask you to consider joining:

  • The Duecento: a group of 200 donors committing $40 a year for five years for a total gift of $200. This will raise $40,000 for the Italian Campus endowment and help to ensure that students with financial need will always have access to the Italian Campus experience. Members of The Duecento will be permanently recognized at the Italian Campus.
  • The Cento: a group of 100 elite donors committing a minimum of $1,000. One hundred ("cento") alumni and friends, each donating a minimum of $1,000, will endow a $1 million fund. The annual income from this endowed fund will support future students and expenses. Members of The Cento will be permanently recognized at the Italian Campus.
