Duquesne University Career Closet

What is the Duquesne University Career Closet?

The Duquesne University Career Closet—a collaboration among the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Career Services, Spiritan Campus Ministry, the Student Government Association, Women’s Guild and Faculty Senate—provides students with appropriate interview attire as they transition into the professional world. The Career Closet gives Duquesne University students FREE access to one professional outfit or accessory that they can wear to job interviews, career fairs and internships.

Why is this effort important?

When entering a job interview or networking event, much of one’s first impression is based on appearance. The impression our students make is crucial. The Career Closet ensures that any Duquesne student is able to "dress to impress" and can feel confident at their next career-related event.

How does it work?

Opened for the 2017-2018 Academic Year, the Career Closet is located in the Spiritan Campus Ministry office in Towers. Any Duquesne University student is invited to e-mail careercloset@duq.edu to schedule an appointment. Students then meet with a campus consultant to discuss their needs and pick-out their professional outfit or accessory. Initial donations to launch this effort were made by Duquesne University faculty and staff.

Why are donations needed?

The hope of the Career Closet initiative is to be a sustainable resource to enhance the student experience, community involvement and distinguish Duquesne from other institutions. This highlights our University’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and is true to our mission statement. While we already have items in our Career Closet, monetary donations will allow us to add to/replenish our inventory or purchase specific items that our students need.

Please donate today and help us spread the word!

We ask that you please make a donation today, which would help our students land that dream job and enter the workforce as a proud Duquesne University alum. With this being a new campus effort, we also need your help to spread the word. Please share this address - www.spirit.duq.edu/careercloset17 - on social media and use the hashtag #CareerCloset. Thank you!

Do you have new and/or gently used business professional clothing that you would like to donate to the Career Closet? A donation box is on the third floor of the Student Union between the Career Services office and the Info Desk. Questions? Please contact David Jakielo, A’05, GA’10, Assistant Director of Annual Giving, at jakielod@duq.edu.
