Duquesne University Gamma Phi Fraternity:
We, the Brothers of the Gamma Phi Fraternity, would like to cordially thank you for visiting our crowd funding page. For those who may not know, the Gamma Phi Fraternity was founded at Duquesne in 1916, where it has remained for the past 101 years. As of today, we remain the oldest and last remaining local fraternity in the great city of Pittsburgh. Because Gamma Phi was founded at Duquesne University, the Brotherhood has a rich and illustrious history with the University. Throughout the past 101 years, the Gamma Phi Fraternity has produced generations of respectable Alum who have left Duquesne better men because of the Brotherhood instilled by the Gamma Phi Fraternity. And that is why we ask for your help today.
Current State of the Gamma Phi Fraternity
Throughout the past 10 years, the presence of the Gamma Phi Fraternity at Duquesne University had diminished dramatically. However, the Brotherhood has seen a significant turnaround within the past two years. Our numbers have more than doubled, with a total of five members at the beginning of last year, to twelve members today. Albeit our numbers are small, we are still trying to preserve the brotherhood that has been passed down through generations at Duquesne as well as grow our numbers to be, once again, a sizable fraternity. With awards last year for Formal Greek Sing and Outstanding Recruitment, the Gamma Phi Fraternity is trying to reestablish itself as a proactive and engaging fraternity on campus, as it was once before. That is why your donations are at the upmost importance to help preserve our traditions and the presence we have at Duquesne.
What will donations be used for?
With your help and generous donations, we will be able to fund many events, projects, and activities for our brothers. Our large-scale philanthropy event, Dancing with the Dukes, was quite a success last year. Even with our low budget and time constraints, we pulled off the most successful Gamma Phi philanthropy event in years, bringing in about $600 dollars which was donated to both the PA Lupus Foundation and the Prince of Peace Parish. With extra funding through your donations, next year’s Dancing with the Dukes will be much bigger and will bring in far more money for our philanthropy. Other areas in which donations would be helpful to us would be purchasing our fraternity’s insurance, any Greek Life fees (for Greek Week and Carnival), new Gamma Phi letters, graduation medallions, apparel for new brothers, composites, maintaining the Gamma Phi War Memorial on campus, and assisting with many smaller fundraising efforts for our philanthropy and our brothers, such as the Dek Hockey tournament we are hosting in April. Increasing our presence on campus is a top priority of the brothers of Gamma Phi, and your generous donations will make that possible.
Your Donations Matter!
Due to our current size and state, your donations will go a long way to preserving the Brotherhood of Gamma Phi. This crowd funding campaign gives us the opportunity to expand and grow our Fraternity unlike we previously imagined. And no matter the amount, your donations are always appreciated! If you would like to help us out in any other way you can follow our Instagram account @gammaphiduq or you can share this crowd funding page on any social media outlet. And lastly, all the Brothers of the Gamma Phi Fraternity would like to thank you for your help and support to help revitalize a once thriving fraternity at Duquesne University.
