The mission of Pure Thirst is to empower and assist communities to gain access to improved water services while teaching students that they can make a difference in the world. Grounded in Spiritan tradition, Pure Thirst utilizes a cross-disciplinary approach, allowing its student members to collaborate with each other and Duquesne faculty "coaches". Students conduct research in their specific areas to enhance the group's understanding of water crisis.
With your support of this project we hope to supply the classrooms of the school in Olkokola, Tanzania with needed materials for water education. This will be our third year in Olkokola. As we are guided by the Spiritan mission at Duquesne, we value authentic relationships and working in the same location to help affect positive change over time. While in Olkokola we spend time getting to know the residents. Guided by the expertise of the community we are coming to better understand the community's relationship with water, its challenges, and how we can work as a partner to hopefully improve access to clean water. We will also be again exploring the options for introducing 3D printed filters into certain points of the community that will take out harmful levels of fluoride.
In addition to giving us a once in a life time opportunity to learn from community partners in Olkokola and the Spiritans who work there, your donation will help us to…
We ask that you please donate today to this special project. Another way to help is to spread the word is by sharing this page - www.spirit.duq.edu/purethirst17 - with family, friends and on social media. Stay connected with Pure Thirst by following us on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you!
