Description

American String Teachers Association Fall 2026

Who we are

We are Duquesne University’s student chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), a community of aspiring string educators and musicians. Our chapter connects students who are passionate about teaching and performing string music, encourages professional growth, and helps members learn from one another as they prepare to lead future music classrooms and ensembles.

One of the most meaningful parts of our chapter is seeing students with a shared love of string music support one another as future teachers. Whether we are exchanging rehearsal ideas, talking through teaching challenges, or encouraging each other’s growth, those moments remind us why this community matters. Attending the national conference would give us even more ideas and experiences to bring back and share.

What are we fundraising for?

We are raising $1,000 to help Duquesne ASTA members attend the ASTA National Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Donations will help offset conference-related costs, such as registration, travel, and lodging, making this professional learning opportunity more accessible to students. At the conference, members hope to attend educational sessions, discover new teaching strategies and repertoire, and connect with string educators from across the country. Funding now will help students plan for and afford the trip.
