National Society of Black Engineering & STEM Students Spring 2026
Who we are:
The National Society of Black Engineering and STEM Students (NSBE) chapter at Duquesne University is a student-led organization dedicated to supporting and empowering students in engineering and other STEM fields. Our chapter’s mission is to increase the representation and success of Black students in STEM while providing opportunities for leadership, professional growth, and community engagement. On campus, we play an active role in creating a supportive community where students can connect, collaborate, and thrive. We provide mentorship, academic guidance, and peer support to help members succeed in their classes, research, and future careers. Through workshops, panels, and networking events, we connect students with industry professionals and alumni, giving them opportunities to explore career paths and gain practical skills.
NSBE enhances student life by creating a welcoming and supportive community for students pursuing STEM degrees. Our chapter promotes mentorship, leadership, and professional development, giving students opportunities to gain skills that will help them in their careers. We organize events that encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and peer-to-peer learning, helping students grow both academically and professionally. By attending conventions and hosting campus events, members bring back knowledge, resources, and inspiration to share with others.
Why we need your help!
We are raising funds to help our NSBE members attend both the National and Regional Conventions, as well as to support educational and networking events on campus throughout the year. These conventions offer workshops, career fairs, panels, and opportunities to network with leading companies and STEM professionals. Attending these events allows our members to develop leadership skills, learn about cutting-edge innovations, and explore career opportunities they might not otherwise have access to. In addition to convention travel, the funds will support our chapter’s campus programs, including workshops, guest speaker sessions, and networking events. These programs allow students to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and share knowledge with their peers.
Get connected
There are many ways to get involved with our NSBE chapter at Duquesne. Students can join the organization to attend workshops, networking events, and conventions, or take part in leadership and volunteer opportunities. Supporters can contribute to this crowdfunding campaign, which directly helps fund convention travel and campus programs.

We regularly host workshops, panels, and networking events that are open to students, faculty, and alumni. These events provide opportunities to learn, connect, and support the growth of the STEM community at Duquesne. By supporting our chapter, donors help create meaningful experiences that develop future STEM leaders and strengthen the campus community.
