Dayton Spiritan Mission Experience 2026
Dayton Spiritan Mission Experience 2026
Who we are

We will travel to Dayton, Ohio, to work with the Spiritan parishes of St. Benedict the Moor and Our Lady of Grace. During our time there, we will work with students at St. Benedict the Moor School to tutor students and assist in classrooms. We will also volunteer with a variety of food pantries and food distribution centers in the area to serve underprivileged populations.
On the 2025 mission to Dayton, we got to talk to and volunteer with the person who started Food for the Journey, a mobile food distribution organization. He told us about how he saw a need in the community and chose to take action to better serve people in need of food. His commitment to seeing a need, developing an idea, and following through with that idea is an inspiration, and it aligns with Duquesne’s Spiritan values. On our mission this year, we hope to learn from individuals in Dayton who create an impact in their community so that we might both participate in service and also gain new perspectives on how we might serve our communities back home.
Why we need your help
The funding from our crowdfunding will go towards school supplies that we will take to St. Benedict the Moor School including pencils, dry erase markers, and sanitation supplies.
On this mission, we will live Duquesne’s Spiritan mission of walking with those living on the margins, following where the Holy Spirit leads, and serving others with joy.
