Who we are

The Duquesne University American String Teachers Association student chapter is an advocacy group supporting string education and student performers by promoting the importance of networking and collaborating. ASTA's main focus is to educate ALL in the world of string education. ASTA aims to provide a space where students (music majors and non-music majors alike) are able to continue making music and being involved in a low commitment, fun environment.

What are we fundraising for?

The American String Teachers Association at Duquesne University is fundraising for our trip to the American String Teachers Association national conference in San Francisco, CA. This conference is for future music educators, professional performers, and string players alike to have the chance to gain more insight into the world of string education and network with other educators from around the world. The ASTA National conference hosts various sessions regarding tons of different topics surrounding string education such as different teaching pedagogies, how to become more efficient in your practicing, or even how to open your own private studio. Conference goers will be fortunate enough to see performances from various high school ensembles and professional ensembles from around the nation. By donating, you are helping to cover the cost of housing members in California, transportation costs, and helping to soften the registration fee for conference attendees.

Our organization is dedicated to providing a space where everyone is welcome to continue making music. We are committed to serving the community by creating a space where people can enjoy music and allow the freedom to express themselves.
