Undergraduate Mock Trial Team Fall 2025

Who we are

We are the club mock trial team on campus, and what this means is that we as a group are given a mock court case that we must build both a prosecution and defense case for, which we will then take to compete against other teams at competitions all over. This helps Duquesne students get experience in the law and get a good basis of understanding of different aspects of the law. This club has been an extreme help in preparing students to go to law school and get experience in public speaking. Our mission as a club is to build students' knowledge of the law while also fostering skills in public speaking, creative thinking, and problem solving skills.

Mock Trial gives undergrad students the opportunity to connect with other students and develop their public speaking, argumentative, and professional presentation skills. Our team’s presence at intercollegiate tournaments gives us the opportunity to see different interpretations of the same case, look for things to work on ourselves, and represent Duquesne in a formal competitive setting.

Why we need your help

We attend many different competitions throughout the year, from invitationals in the fall, to regionals and ORC’s in the spring. This money helps us pay the entrance fees into all these competitions, and we also use it towards lodging for these competitions, as we often have to travel for them. This money is important to us now because we have a significant number of new members that we want to be able to send to competitions, and we want to get good practice in against other teams so that we can hopefully advance to nationals in the spring.
