Student Nursing Association Fall 2025
Student Nursing Association Fall 2025
Student Nurses’ Association is an organization for undergraduate nursing students here at Duquesne. This organization provides educational resources and is a great way for nursing students to network and gain leadership skills. Members stay involved through chapter meetings, fundraising, social, and service opportunities. SNA allows for not only involvement within Duquesne or Pennsylvania, but even on the national level! We keep engaged in the current healthcare system on the pre-professional level by attending conferences and legislative programs. Many of these workshops and conferences aim to promote the involvement and understanding of our healthcare system. With the wide variety of opportunities and resources available students have the chance to network with students from down the hall they have never met here at Duquesne to the whole other part of the nation.
What are we fundraising for?
Through SNA at Duquesne students are provided the opportunity to attend two different conferences, the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania state conference and the National Student Nurses’ Association national conference. This fall, the SNAP convention takes place in Harrisburg, PA, and the NSNA Convention takes place in Houston, TX! Both of these events give students the chance to be exposed to different aspects of nursing, primarily the legislative side of nursing that we students aren’t always exposed to directly in their day-to-day classes. The state conference and national conference both revolve around networking and advocacy through small workshops and resolutions. Resolutions are written by schools throughout the state and nation to promote a change in an area student most see fit. Duquesne has continuously finalized a resolution to do our part to promote change and bring a voice to patients. This year, our resolution is about strengthening maternal and infant care access in rural Pennsylvania. Additionally, during these conferences' hospitals, employers, schools, and many other nursing resources gather to speak to students during the expo. This gives our nursing students the option to network across the nation for job prospecting!
DUSNA enhances student life on campus by creating opportunities for nursing students to connect, collaborate, and grow both personally and professionally. Through networking events, service projects, and educational workshops, DUSNA helps students build meaningful relationships with peers, faculty, and healthcare professionals. These experiences foster teamwork and leadership while developing essential inter-professional skills needed in today’s healthcare environment. By encouraging collaboration with students from other disciplines, DUSNA prepares future nurses to communicate effectively, advocate for patients, and work cohesively within diverse healthcare teams—ultimately enriching the overall student experience here at Duquesne University.
Each school year, we host 1-2 formals for our students to celebrate all of their hard work and dedication to DUSNA. These typically take place at a local eatery with food, music, and dancing, to provide students with a fun, relaxing evening with fellow members of DUSNA to have fun!
