American Chemical Society Fall 2025

Who we are:

We are the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates, an organization recognized by the national governing body of the American Chemical Society. We are an organization of over 200 students from a variety of backgrounds and majors, anyone who is interested in chemistry can be a member of our club, even if they’re not in a STEM field!

Why we need your help!

We are defraying the costs of 10 research-active juniors to attend the spring 2026 American Chemical Society national symposia in Atlanta, Georgia. This includes travel, hotel, food, and meeting related costs. By attending this conference, these students will be able to receive feedback on their research projects from professionals in their field.

Every year, ACS holds its own research symposium to encourage collaboration between students at Duquesne and external institutions via scientific communication. In years past we have had upwards of 40 poster presentations and 11 universities participated in this event. Seeing this much collaboration for this event never ceases to put in perspective ACS’s mission which is to unite scientists across the country.

Throughout the years we have demonstrated excellence as shown by our recognition at the university level as well as national. We have won the ‘Outstanding’ national chapter award, the top award from the national ACS organization, 12 of the past 15 years. We have also won the Green Chemistry Outreach Award from the national ACS organization 9 of the past 12 years, as well as Duquesne University Outstanding Student Organization of the Year (top campus award for clubs) two of the past six years.
