We are a group of 12 Duquesne medical students, faculty and staff embarking on a medical mission trip to Roatán, Honduras. From June 28-July 5, 2025, the Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine will be partnering with Clínica Esperanza, a community-based health center committed to providing quality, low-cost medical care to underserved populations.
Driven by the Spiritan values of service and social justice, we will assist local healthcare providers in delivering essential medical services to the people of the Bay Islands of Honduras. Clínica Esperanza has adult, women’s health, pediatrics, dental, and pharmacy services, as well as diabetic care, prenatal classes, promotoras (liaisons between the community and Clínica Esperanza), and eye care and surgeries.
Medical students will have the opportunity to see patients and work alongside Clínica Esperanza’s team to provide hands-on patient care, dispense medications and medical supplies and develop global health competencies and cultural awareness skills.
Why we need your help!
All donations go directly towards purchasing medical supplies and supply bags for DUQCOM student use. The medical supplies will enable the students and their supervising physicians to provide high quality care in any clinical setting. Necessary supplies will be donated to Clínica Esperanza and the medical bags will be used to on future trips by DUQCOM students. Your monetary contributions and prayerful support will have a direct impact on the people of Roatán and on the students who are gaining firsthand experience in global medicine.
Every contribution brings us one step closer to making a difference. Please donate today and help us spread the word! Thank you!
