We’re a group of 12 Duquesne medical students and staff traveling down during our spring break to the Dominican Republic for our inaugural medical mission experience.
From March 8-15, 2025, the Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine students will embark in their inaugural international medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Driven by the Spiritan pillars of forming authentic relationships, being open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and walking with those on the margins, we will be serving the local communities of Punta Cana and partner with the Via Edward School of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM).
The Verón Rural Clinic is an ongoing endeavor launched in 2006 through a collaborative partnership among VCOM administration, the Punta Cana Foundation, and the Secretary of Public Health and Social Assistance in the Dominican Republic.
Since the Verón Rural Clinic was established, new services such as prenatal care, immunizations for children, and emergency services have been added. VCOM faculty and staff operate this year-round clinic, providing compassionate, sustainable healthcare for the community now cares for more than 100 patients a day.
During the week medical students will see patients in the Verón Rural Clinic and will do an outreach to the local community by setting-up pop up clinics where they will meet and see patients free of charge, dispense necessary medications, perform osteopathic manual treatment and connect patients to local providers for continuity of care.
All donations will go directly to purchasing medications and medical supplies for the pop-up clinic to help the local communities/barrios around the area under the supervision of DUCOM faculty and staff.
Your monetary donations and prayerful support are integral in our medical mission trip. You all are part of our inaugural medical mission experience. We appreciate anything and everything you are able to give! Please donate today and help spread the word on social media! Thank you!
