Who we are:
When you think of a recording studio or a live concert, audio engineers are the people who get everything up and running, and keep things on track behind the scenes. Duquesne offers a Music Technology major, in which students get to have hands-on experience with high-end gear, and the Audio Engineering Society (AES) provides even more opportunities for learning new techniques, making connections with other engineers, and improving skills through feedback.
What we do:
AES meets on a regular basis so that students interested in the audio industry can:
● Learn about new technology
● Share their projects to get feedback
● Pursue professional experiences through conventions such as AES and the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM)
● Hear from guest speakers in the industry
Membership is open to the entire Duquesne University student body, not just music technology majors. All are welcome
Why we are crowdfunding:
Thanks to the generosity of past donors, we were able to attend the AES Conference in New York City this October 2024, with another impressive group of 20 students. In January, members are planning to attend the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA for the second year. As the nation's largest music conference, it attracts thousands of attendees and brands, offering immense networking opportunities and valuable professional experience for our members. This crowdfunding campaign will support these trips, as well as help us schedule guest speakers, providing professional insights into the audio industry. None of these opportunities would be possible without your contribution!
