Duquesne University’s National Association for Music Education Chapter #159 (NAfME) is a collegiate organization for music education majors at the Mary Pappert School of Music. The organization offers professional development opportunities throughout the year for students, including workshops, professional speaker presentations, with the main opportunity being the annual Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) Conference.
This chapter is required for all Music Education students and provides experiences of professional development as well as chances to network with other music educators. Our main professional development event this year is a job fair full of practice interviews, teaching demos, and secondary instrument performances. This day begins with a Zoom meeting from the President of NAfME.
Why we need your help!
Last year, our organization was fortunate enough to send 25 students to the PMEA Conference. Through the help of our Crowdfunding campaign, we were able to keep their individual cost under $100. We hope to continue these efforts this year and send 40 members to the conference, keeping the cost affordable.
This year, more than 40 students have shown interest in attending the conference, and we hope the donated funds from this campaign will allow for the 15 additional students to attend. Your donations would go towards conference registration and hotel accommodations!
