The Duquesne Model United Nations Club is both a class and a club, allowing students to get either International Relations or Political Science credit while participating in the club. During club meetings, we discuss current events, learn about the structure of the United Nations, partake in speaking exercises, and learn how to diplomatically engage in debate using the same parliamentary procedures used by the United Nations. Outside of class, we attend conferences, which provide experiences which we would never be able to attain in the classroom, and host an annual competition (DuqMUN) for high school Model United Nations clubs, which helps foster the next generation of Model United Nations Club leaders at the university level.
The cost of sending student delegates to a Model United Nations conference has significantly increased over the last few years. Our club has continued to grow and we are attempting to bring as many students as possible to conferences. We have won major awards conferences we have recently attended and have a talented group of upper- and under-classmen that are primed to win more awards at future conferences.
As a club, we pride ourselves on fully covering the costs of conferences so that every student has a chance to participate, regardless of their financial situation and we need your help to cover these costs!
Any amount you would be able to donate would be helpful in sending students to a conference.
