Migration Club Food Pantry

Who We Are

Join the Migration Club in combating food insecurity at Duquesne with our on-campus McAnulty College Community Food Pantry. The food pantry strives to provide food for students, faculty, and staff year-round through our partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. As an extension of the Center for Migration, Displacement, and Community Studies in the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts we recognize food insecurity as an important source of human flows globally. Additionally, we appreciate the importance of food for creating a welcoming and integrated community. We want everyone in the Duquesne community to have reliable access to enough nutritious and delicious food.

What We Do

To achieve this goal, our pantry provides healthy food in a welcoming, stigma-free environment. With the support of McAnulty College, our club aims to address and educate our community about food insecurity by increasing awareness and decreasing stigmas surrounding this widespread issue. In line with other food-based initiatives on campus, the Migration Club with the McAnulty College Food Pantry will do its best to serve our community. In the future, we hope to expand pantry partnerships to promote sustainability and decrease food waste on Duquesne’s campus. We know that for many students, food insecurity has a negative impact on their physical and mental health and creates an obstacle to academic and personal success. We also know that for many of us, this situation has been worsened by the pandemic. We hope that our pantry will not only provide high-quality food for members of the Duquesne community but will also help raise awareness and facilitate conversation around this significant issue.

What could my donation help cover?

Your generous donation would provide the funds to stock the pantry and diversify the food options. We plan to offer a wider range of dietary-sensitive options such as gluten-free, dairy free, vegan, Halal, Kosher, vegetarian, and more. Funds would also cover awareness events hosted by the Migration Club such as speaker events, documentary viewings, or academic conferences. Please consider donating to the McAnulty College Community Food Pantry – thank you!
