The sociology club is dedicated to bridging the gap between academic findings and real-world implementation. The club is focused on issues that are researched in academic settings, but may struggle to find footing in the praxis. We host community events, attend public forums, and provide a space for students to bring forth issues they see impacting the larger Pittsburgh community.
The Sociology Club currently stocks all the women’s restrooms in College Hall with free period products. The club is also working on methods to assist undergraduate students conduct and publish research. This includes Brown Paper Bag Lunches where students will informally present their research to a group of interdisciplinary professors and provide feedback to produce the highest quality research. Additionally, the Sociology Club is hosting the second Social Justice Research Symposium where undergraduate students can present their research, win awards, and publish their work.
