The School of Science and Engineering Multicultural STEM Group (MSG) is a professional and social group on campus that promotes career development, diversity, and inclusion within the field of STEM. The organization provides a network for students and professionals interested in STEM-related careers, internships, research, and community engagement and service, while in accordance with the Duquesne University Mission.
There are numerous conferences each year that give undergraduate researchers the opportunity to present their work to researchers within their field. Supporting our members’ outstanding accomplishments and opportunities will greatly impact their undergraduate experience. At these events, members may attend poster presentations and guest lectures from principal investigators throughout the nation. These once in a lifetime experiences also provide great networking opportunities which are beneficial for career development.
Why We Need Your Help…
We are fundraising to support our members to attend and present at national research conferences. Donations will be used for travel expenses and conference registration fees.
After COVID-19, we have distributed conference applications and information so our members can present their undergraduate research. In November of 2022, two of our members (Austin Summers and Jessica Wellmann) presented their undergraduate research at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Students (ABRCMS) in Anaheim, CA. We hope to support and highlight members at conferences in the future, such as the National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR) 2024. Five of our members went to Eau Claire, WI to attend and present at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research 2023. With your help, we can support our members for future conferences and presentations!
