:Lexicon Fall 2023

:Lexicon is Duquesne University's Student Literary Journal produced by students for student work. The journal is a space for everyone at Duquesne, all students, all majors, faculty, and alumni to explore their interests in writing, photography, and other mediums in a safe and supportive environment.

What We Do!

:Lexicon journal consists of sections of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, photography, and visual art submitted by Duquesne students, faculty, and staff. These submissions are then carefully reviewed and discussed by :Lexicons editors, where the final pieces are selected, edited, and laid our within the journal, which is then sent to the printers.

:Lexicon produces two physical issues each academic year, one in the fall semester and one in the spring. These journals celebrate and showcase the creative works of Duquesne University individuals, allowing friends, family, and people inside and outside the community to experience the talent emerging from within our campus community.

Why We Need Your Help…

Your generosity to our crowdfunding campaign will assist :Lexicon in covering printing costs, expand our presence on campus, and enable proper recognition of our hard-working staff.

One of Lexicon's greatest prides is producing physical journals for our organization. There is something incredibly powerful about a young writer or artist holding their work within a physical book. However, a physical copy is not just something appreciated by our selected authors within :Lexicon, but also everyone connected to :Lexicon and Duquesne. The staff of :Lexicon who has dedicated hours of their time to help produce the journal are able to see all their work form into a reality. Additionally, all the friends, family, and professors can physically hold, read, and celebrate the hard-earned work of the students who were apart of lexicon.

In addition to donations will assist with our expansion on campus. Since the spread of Covid-19 back in 2020, :Lexicon like many student organizations, has taken a massive hit in campus awareness and student participation. Our goal for this academic year is to get :Lexicon's name back our there! By purchasing merch, we will be able to provide reminders of :lexicon's opportunities through stickers, pins, and pens to the supply students on campus.

Gifts of all sizes will help us reach our goal. You can also support us by sharing our page on social media! Additionally, if we reach our goals and are able to purchase merch, we will gladly share our purchases to those who went our of their way to donating to our crowdfunding campaign!

Thank you for your consideration!

We appreciate your consideration in donating to our campaign. Your donations are an immense help in providing us with the monetary provisions needed to do what we love to the fullest extent. Nothing is better than the sound that we are able to create. The flow of music is so beautiful and complex, yet so simple, and we are proud to possess the capability to create the music that we do with only one instrument… our voices!
