Doctors Without Borders/Friends of MSF - Spring 2023

What is Doctors without Borders/Medecins sans Frontieres?

Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF), also known as Doctors without Borders, is an international non-profit humanitarian organization that provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Duquesne’s Doctors without Borders student organization is just 1 of 120 “Friends of MSF” chapters across the United States. Our “Lebanon Appreciation Night” event for our club members to enjoy free food and musi

Doctors without Borders/Friends of MSF at Duquesne University

At Duquesne, our Friends of MSF Chapter aims to reflect their mission by raising money and awareness about Doctors without Borders relief projects and hosting local community service projects in Pittsburgh. In addition to service projects this school year, our members set a $1,000 fundraising goal toward MSF relief projects in Lebanon. We have over 75 members and host events throughout the year to encourage student involvement!

Some of the events include:

  • Lebanon Appreciation Night (Free food & music!)
  • “Bagged Lunch” Project (Light of Life Rescue Mission)
  • “Wellness/Hygiene Bags” Project (Ronald McDonald House Charity)
  • Bake Sale Fundraisers
  • MSF Guest Speakers

Why We Need Your Support

We need donations to defray the costs of our events and provide the best experiences for our members! Your donation will help cover the costs of past events, like the Lebanon Appreciation Night, and future events, like our trivia night, service projects, and bake sales. We would love to reimburse our members for the baked goods they make and gift them T-shirts to represent our club at community service events.

Your donations will allow us to help pay for:

  • Member T-shirts
  • Meeting Refreshments/Snacks
  • Signs/Decorations
  • Trivia Prizes
  • Service Project Supplies

Not only will the money be used to support our events, but any remaining money will be carried over to help fund our 2023-2024 school year!
