Who are we?
Duquesne University’s National Association for Music Education Chapter #159 (NAfME) is a collegiate organization for music education majors at the Mary Pappert School of Music. The organization offers professional development opportunities throughout the year for students, including workshops, professional speaker presentations, and the main opportunity being the annual Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) Conference.
What do we want to do?
Like many other organizations, COVID-19 greatly limited our in-person professional opportunities. We are excited that PMEA is hosting its first in-person conference since 2019. Our members are eager to gain as much professional knowledge from educators in the field and the PMEA Conference is the best opportunity. The 2022 PMEA Annual Conference will be held April 6-9 at the Kalahari Resort & Conference Center in Poconos, PA and we are seeking additional funds to send 32 members to the conference.

What will donations go towards?
Through our own fundraising efforts and membership dues, we have previously raised funds for approximately 20 students to attend the PMEA conference. However, since we anticipate over 50 students to show interest in attending the conference, the donated funds from this campaign would allow for 32 additional students to attend. For 32 people, the total cost for accommodations and registration would be $5451.04, which breaks down as follows:
