Thank You!

July 23, 2020

Our alumni and friends generously contributed thousands of dollars to this emergency fund at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, which helped hundreds of students overcome immediate hardships. We now seek donations to the 2020 Student Success Fund to help ensure that those early investments pay even greater dividends, allowing every student to persevere this fall and beyond. Emergency Student Assistance Fund Update

May 04, 2020

In one month, 148 members of the Duquesne University family generously donated to the newly established Emergency Student Assistance Fund crowdfunding campaign. The $13,405 raised has provided immediate aid to 54 Duquesne University students in crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For these 54 students, the economic impact has been devastating, resulting in personal or parental job loss, food insecurities, inability to pay rent or mortgage, inability to afford tuition, depleted or depleting savings, anxiety and hopelessness.

These generous contributions have helped students with:

  • paying for food
  • paying rent/mortgage
  • paying utilities
  • tuition assistance/support
  • technological support

Because of gifts to this fund, students have developed a greater peace of mind and a feeling of being cared for during a time of crisis. By helping them meet many of their basic needs, donors have helped them continue their Duquesne education, and as a result, have selflessly demonstrated a form of compassion that they will never forget.

But, additional support is needed. The requests from our students in need have been coming in rapidly. If you are in a position to do so, we ask that you please make a gift today to the Emergency Student Assistance Fund. Gifts of all sizes will allow us to provide targeted aid to these students most in need right now.
