KPMG Faculty Fellowship in Accounting

The Duquesne University Palumbo-Donahue School of Business & KPMG

Over its first 100 years, Duquesne University's Palumbo-Donahue School of Business has produced thousands of alumni who have influenced the growth of companies in the Pittsburgh region and around the world. Among these notable graduates, are alumni who have started with and have had lasting careers with KPMG. It goes without saying that our two organizations have had a mutually beneficial relationship for years.

The KPMG Faculty Fellowship in Accounting

The Palumbo-Donahue School of Business strategic plan has a vision built on three strategic pillars, one of which is to attract and retain outstanding faculty who excel in both teaching and research. The KPMG Faculty Fellowship in Accounting supports this strategic priority.

In support of the school’s strategic plan, a group of dedicated Duquesne University alumni and friends currently employed and/or retired from KPMG have made a pledge in 2016 to help establish the KPMG Faculty Fellowship in Accounting. This ongoing commitment has allowed for the KPMG Faculty Fellowship to have supported two fellows, Dr. Yezen Kannan and current fellow, Dr. Bonnie Morris.

Bonnie is an Associate Professor of Accounting in the School of Business. Professor Morris teaches courses in Accounting Information Systems and IT Auditing.

Prior to joining Duquesne University, Professor Morris was the GoMart Professor of Accounting Information Systems at West Virginia University. She is a graduate of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Morris is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting.

Why A Faculty Fellowship?

Simply put, in the academic community, fellowships are viewed prestigiously as they enhance a school’s academic programs, enrich the lives of our students, and most importantly ensures that leading scholars educate future KPMG employees.

Fellowship terms are held for a 3-year period thereby allowing Duquesne to recruit and/or retain faculty “rising stars”. Fellowship funding is utilized to support research and forward thinking thought leadership designed to influence the business thinking of tomorrow. Other fund uses include salary supplementation and travel expenses to academic conferences that provide a platform for knowledge dissemination.

Your additional, voluntary support is welcomed.

The goal for this effort was set at $25,000 annually for three-years. Half of our annual $25,000 commitment will be funded by the KPMG Foundation, leaving an annual fundraising goal of $12,500.

Your participation will augment the notable support already committed towards the KPMG Faculty Fellowship in Accounting. This is an effort we hope to sustain for years to come. Your support of this initiative is completely voluntary.
