Mic Drop A Cappella 2019

**$1,500 STRETCH GOAL ANNOUNCED**

Thanks to the generosity and support of our awesome donors we reached our $1,000 crowdfunding goal with 13 days still left in the campaign! We have announced a $1,500 stretch goal in hopes to secure even more funding, which would take our organization to even greater heights! Thank you!

Duquesne University Mic Drop A Cappella

Mic Drop A Cappella was founded by Blake Mechtel in December 2016 so Duquesne University students could have the opportunity to come together to practice, perform, and share a wonderfully unique form of music on campus and throughout the Pittsburgh area. Now into its third academic year, Mic Drop has 16 student-singers of various majors who arrange and perform music from various genres.

Our recent accomplishments...

• Three-time Quarterfinalists at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA's)
• Held workshops with local high schools
• Hosted annual Spring and Winter Concerts
• Hosted First Invitational (Beats on the Bluff)

What we want to do...

We are excited to become more active on campus and in the community, but we need funding to make our hopes and plans come true! This year we hope to continue our momentum and:

• Represent Duquesne University at the ICCA's, which is a competition against over 400 selected groups from the United States and United Kingdom (check out our audition video, click here!).
• Host an annual Christmas and Spring Concert
• Host other a cappella groups in the city on our campus to grow our A Cappella community
• Perform around the city to spread our love of music and bring joy to the community
• Use music to raise money for causes and other service organizations in the community 

Why we need you to make a gift to our organization...

All of these events are extremely exciting for our group and the community we wish to serve, but everything comes with a price. Donations will be used to help offset the cost for:

• ICCA audition fees
• Transportation to and from our competitions
• Us to enhance our concerts by being able to make programs, pay someone to run lights, decorate the venue, etc.
• Even smaller donations will allow us to pay for items like sheet music - the music we perform is actually created by students in the group, but the software we use to create our covers is costly.

Please help fund our passion to perform music...

Words cannot convey how much we love music. This is because the love we have for music is a feeling, an entity, and ultimately, a sound. We go beyond the sheet music and we dive into the raw emotion and feeling of each and every song that we learn and perform. Our job is to tap into people’s emotions and let them feel happiness, excitement, thrill, joy, sadness and sorrow. We want to show people that A Cappella music is a very intimate experience and we want to represent Duquesne University to show others what we can do and what we stand for. Funds we receive we will give you music that can never be forgotten.
