What is the Duquesne University International Endowed Student Fund?
The Duquesne University International Endowed Student Fund provides enrolled international students with financial assistance when they find themselves in unusual funding situations.
How did the fund get established?
As the President of the Duquesne University Scholarship Association, one of Father Hogan's goals is to establish this fund to address international students when they find themselves in need of financial aid. This fund commemorates his past role as the founding father of Duquesne’s International Program.
Why is this crowdfunding campaign goal set at $2,500?
The goal of this crowdfunding campaign is set at $2,500 because that is the remaining amount needed for the fund to reach $25,000 and be fully endowed. Once endowed, the fund would provide perpetual funding to international students. Donations will continue to be accepted if the goal is reached, as additional donations will give Duquesne University even more flexibility to distribute these funds to international students.
Why is this fund important?
The international student population of Duquesne is an important component of what makes Duquesne an outstanding educational institution. Like their American counterparts, international students face similar challenges while studying here at Duquesne University.
However, international students often deal with a number of challenges that are unique to their U.S. colleagues, some examples include, but are not limited to:
