Welcome to the Sigma Kappa crowdfunding page!
We are the active sisters of Sigma Kappa of the Kappa Mu chapter at Duquesne University. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our crowdfunding page! The sisters of Sigma Kappa choose to make living with heart an everyday commitment. We value service, personal growth, loyalty, and friendship. Sigma Kappa provides lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing together women to positively impact our communities.
As many people may know, Sigma Kappa is more than just a collegiate experience; it creates bonds that will last a lifetime.
Throughout the 144 years Sigma Kappa has been a chapter, it has successfully impacted the lives of women not only throughout their collegiate years but beyond. By donating below, you are helping us to strengthen our core values and to provide and enhance the experience for active members in Sigma Kappa. Any donation is greatly appreciated, for it will be going towards a lifetime of living with heart.
What will your donation contribute towards?
Duquesne University has established Greek Life Student Support Funds for each sorority and fraternity on campus. These gift accounts allow us to accept donations, which we can use to help cover the costs of Sigma Kappa’s most direct needs. Some examples of how these funds may be used include:
* Use of all donations must be approved by Rebecca Mickler, Director of Greek Life.
Keeping up to date with Sigma Kappa at Duquesne University
Sigma Kappa continues to be well-rounded, respected and involved both on campus and within the community. The sorority works hand-in-hand with our 5 philanthropies that we support nationally:
Sigma Kappa Foundation
Inherit the Earth
Gerontology
Maine Seacoast Mission
Alzheimer’s Association
We strive to support these philanthropies and spread awareness for these causes by participating in the numerous service events that occur over the year. We participate in the annual Alzheimer’s Walk, which Kappa Mu raised $11,000 for, nursing home visits in the area, and local environmental projects. We also raise money for these causes from our events on campus such as Cut out Alzheimer’s and the Ultra Violet Challenge (UVC).
In addition to our own philanthropic efforts, our chapter members are active within Duquesne’s community, and attend other organization’s events, both Greek and Non-Greek. Additionally, 80% of our chapter members are involved in an activity outside of Greek Life, spreading our involvement across campus.
Sigma Kappa also takes pride in maintaining a strong sisterhood. The chapter has recently included programming events such as trips to the zoo, pumpkin patches, Phipps conservatory, and many other activities to engage members and promote sisterhood. A donation could help the chapter continue in growing the bond we all hold so dear!
Donate, reach out, and continue to provide sisters with this lifelong experience!
It would be greatly appreciated to see our Sigma Kappa alumnae, family and friends donate to our campaign. Even a donation of $10 will significantly impact our chapter and active sisters!
