What is The Collegiate 100?
The Collegiate 100 is committed to service and empowering the urban communities of Pittsburgh. Through mentoring and raising awareness of social justice, the C100 strives to live out Duquesne’s motto of “serving God, by serving students.”
The Collegiate 100 is parented by the national organization of the 100 Black Men of America Inc (The 100). The 100 stands to improve the quality of life for the communities it serves. The 100 is the largest network of African American male mentors and influencers in the nation, working collectively with partners to transform the lives of underrepresented and disenfranchised African-American youth.
Through our platform of Mentoring The 100 Way Across a Lifetime, we provide four programmatic initiatives (Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness, and Economic Empowerment) all overlaid by Leadership. The work of the 100 makes a fundamental difference in the lives of the youth we touch and the communities we serve.
What is the 100 Black Men of America National Conference?
The 100 Black Men of America’s annual conference recognizes leadership across many industries and age groups, featuring individuals who lead, excite, advance, direct, encourage, revitalize, and strengthen people, teams, organizations and causes. At the conference members from the 100’s global network will convene in Las Vegas, Nevada to offer attendees relevant workshops, panel discussions, community forums, leader spotlights, and much more. What happens in Vegas will not stay but will be replicated to deliver education and empowerment to communities served by 100 Black Men chapters.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Finding ways to finance the opportunity for some of our members to attend the 100 Black Men’s National Conference has always been the largest hurdle for us. It has been a goal of ours to send a few of our members for many years, but we haven’t been able to do so. The large fees and expenses that have to be covered are a lot for most of us to bear, but we continually look for ways to achieve our goal. This campaign gives us a great opportunity to generate the funds needed to send a couple well-deserving members to Las Vegas this Summer. Every dollar counts, so whatever you can give really makes a difference.
