What Are We Raising Money For?
To add tables with built-in electrical outlets in Gumberg Library, our most frequent request from students who use the library.
Why Does Gumberg Library Need to Raise Money for These Items?
The ways Duquesne University students study and work has greatly evolved since Gumberg Library opened nearly 40 years ago.
Today, student productivity depends upon the availability of electrical outlets to charge laptops, tablets, and other devices, some of which are required for different programs. 
In addition, the shortage of electrical outlets in the library presents a formidable challenge for students wishing to work long hours without being interrupted by a low battery.
Thus, the scarcity of outlets in the library has become a widely acknowledged issue among students. We regularly receive comment cards like the one pictured that express the need for more outlets and tables.
A solution that solves both issues (pictured) is to purchase tables with built-in outlets. Additionally, donations can also be used so that our maintenance team can retrofit tables.

Over the past several years, we have used our resources and Duquesne Day of Giving donations to increase the number of outlets in Gumberg Library. We have:
However, with more than half a million visitors to Gumberg Library each year, we still need more outlets and tables. Additional funding is needed to make this happen. You can see an example of the type of table with built-in outlets that we plan to order at this link.
We believe that crowdfunding will be a convenient way for our generous alumni and friends to donate and help spread the word about this need. Help us give our students the necessary resources to make the most of their Duquesne University educational experience. More outlets and tables would be a wonderful way to welcome our students back to campus this fall.
