** STRETCH GOAL ANNOUNCED **

Thanks to the incredible outpouring of support for the Pep Band, we reached our initial goal of $1,500 in less than 48 hours! We can’t thank you all enough for your generosity and support.

We are now setting a new stretch goal of $5,000. There are still a few weeks left in the campaign, and each of your contributions help us to grow our organization by providing better and newer equipment, keeping our instruments in working order, and helping to offset each student’s personal costs associated with expenses such as travel and uniforms.

The Duquesne University Pep Band

Home-court and field advantage can be the difference between a win and a loss for the Dukes, but only if energy from the fans is there to create this spirited environment. The Duquesne University Pep Band provides the spark that generates this enthusiasm at home games and the soundtrack for a fun game atmosphere.

Cheering on Our Dukes!

The Pep Band performs at all home women’s, men’s basketball games and football games – which is around 40 games a year. We also perform at special events on campus and throughout Pittsburgh. We have seen a resurgence the last few years – growing from only 15 student-members to more than 60.

Adding to the Duquesne University Student Experience

Not only does the Pep Band provide a great experience for Duquesne crowds and our student-athletes, but our members also experience many benefits.

• We get to experience the thrill of performing in front of a live audience
• We get to relieve the stress associated with being a college student by playing and instrument and interacting with friends
• And, our members do not need to be a music major, so it gives all Duquesne students the chance to perform, form new friendships and share their love of music

But We Need Your Support to Add to Our Success!

Unfortunately, this all comes at a cost. Unlike high schools that provide instruments and uniforms for all of their band members, Duquesne’s Pep Band does not have that luxury. While the University has supplied some financial support, many students have to purchase their own instrument and uniform. Even used instruments are expensive – from $700 trumpets and trombones to $2,000 flutes and saxophones.

Donations to our crowdfunding campaign would take this financial burden off of the current members and give students of all financial backgrounds the opportunity to join.

In addition, there would be these additional benefits if our number of members increased.

• Students would have the opportunity to take games off to re-charge or focus on studies, as current members are required to be at every game so we have a full array of instruments
• We could perform at more community events and possibly add a drum line or marching band to our arsenal
