What is the NBA?
The NBA at Duquesne University is the National Band Association. We focus on learning more about teaching, leading, and participating in band ensembles at all levels. Our membership consists of students at Duquesne from many different majors, not just music majors.
What is our goal?
The goal of this crowdfunding campaign is to raise money towards attending the 2021 Midwest Music Clinic conference in McCormick Place West, Chicago, IL, December 15-18. We hope to take the whole chapter with us and keep the cost relatively low for all members.
Why attend the Midwest Music Clinic?
The Midwest Music Clinic hosts a plethora of high-class clinicians in the instrumental music world in a single space, giving members the opportunity to learn from clinicians from across the nation. There is no better conference to attend to absorb a lot of experience and knowledge in just a few days. The Midwest Music Clinic also hosts many ensembles from across the nation, including ensembles as young as middle school up to professional groups.
Where will the donations go?
Most donations will be used towards the Midwest Conference. This money will help pay for transportation, food expenses, registration for the event, and hotel rooms. Any left-over money will be used towards paying for guest speakers, smaller trips in the spring, and the PMEA District 1 Band Festival being hosted at Duquesne University this January.
Why donate?
The NBA is a newly established organization on campus with a lively membership. Attending this conference and gaining more money to host guest speakers will grant us new learning experiences and knowledge that we wouldn’t be able to access on our own. With this newly acquired knowledge we will be able to give back to the Duquesne community and help boost the reputation of the University even after we graduate.
